This week, members of the community celebrated the National Safe Place program. Members met at the Elks Lodge Friday Morning for a luncheon. The program sets up a network for abused kids and teens at home or on the street to locate and access emergency shelters.
"Every young person, whether they be in TX or another state, if they are in a dangerous situation, they'll actually identify the safe place sign. And then they can actually call the local safe place program, which would access them to an emergency shelter in their area who would then get them off the streets," said Sheila Catron-Choate.
