Soccer Playoffs: Rider Boys Start Right, Win 4-0

The Rider Raiders got a good start to their 2011 playoff run, beating Denton Ryan 4-0 at Memorial Stadium.

Ruben Flores scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season to put Rider on the board, and added two assists for the Raiders (21-2-2), who will face the winner of Birdville and Gainesville in the Sectional round.

Travis Penney scored a goal off of a deflection to make it 2-0 in the first half.

Chase Roberts and Minsung Park also scored for Rider.

Lady Bulldogs Fall to Birdville

The Burkburnett Lady Bulldogs fell in the Area playoffs to Birdville by a final score of 7-0 at Decatur's Eagle Field.

Lady Hawks freshman Jade Wear scored a first-half hat trick and also set up Madison Abbott for the game's first goal, less than a minute into the game.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 5-0 at the break, but tightened up a little in the second half, according to Head Coach Patrick Birk.

The Lady Bulldogs finish the season 10-14 overall.

It was the final game for seniors Riley Jalowy, Jaclyn Johnson and Emily Salas-Groves.
