Gambling Could Be Put to a Vote in Texas

A Texas House Committee is hearing testimony this week about a number of measures allowing casinos and slot machines to take root in the Lone Star State.

The constitutional amendment has received much support from the Texas Gaming Association, who is backing a measure giving license to 8 casinos and slot machines at 8 race tracks.

Other measures included in this proposal would allow gambling on Indian Reservations or slot machines at bingo halls.

The Texas Gaming Association says the proposal could bring in $1.2 billion a year in gaming taxes alone.

Several in Texoma have expressed their thoughts on whether gambling facilities should be allowed in Texas.
