Wichita Falls ISD Meets To Discuss Budget Recommendations

Wichita Falls Independent School District met in a special session Tuesday to discuss specific recommendations made in the budget action committee report.

School board officials are preparing for the "worst case scenario" of a $10 million cut. They are hoping the state recommended cut could be as little as $5 million.

On Thursday, WFISD officials will reconvene to discuss specific personnel cuts including regular classroom teachers and aides, Pre K and Special Education personnel. Right now in the Wichita Falls district, the student teacher ratio is 19 to1, state requires no more than 22 to 1.

They will also look at alternative ways to fund current programs including: Advanced Placement tests, Academic Success and the Life Skills Program.
