HS Soccer Playoffs: Rider, WFHS Girls Advance

The Rider Lady Raiders advanced in the 4A Girls playoffs with a 2-1 overtime win over Keller Timber Creek.

Alli Brewer pulled the Lady Raiders even in the first half with a header off a feed from Nikki Neal, after the Lady Falcons had jumped on top first.

But just 1:22 into the first of two overtime periods, Katy Catney found Abby Watts on a restart and Watts did the rest, scoring the winning goal to send Rider into the Sectional round.

They will play the winner of Denton Ryan and Gainesville, who played late Tuesday night.

If Ryan is the opponent, the game will be back in Mineral Wells Friday night at 7 PM.

Lady Coyotes Get Big Win

Wichita Falls High School scored early and often in their Class 4A Area round playoff game against Aledo Tuesday night, pulling away for a 5-2 win.

Payton Fookes scored two goals and assisted on Sierra Anderson's first-half goal to lead the way for Old High, who led 3-1 at intermission.

Cassidy Beer also scored for the Lady Coyotes, who advance to face Birdville, after the Lady Hawks beat Burkburnett 7-0 Monday night.

Coyotes Fall in Shootout

The Coyotes were not as successful against Aledo Tuesday night.

They fell 2-1 in a shootout against the Bearcats, ending their season at 16-3-4.

The game was a rematch of last year's playoffs, where the Coyotes fell 4-1 to the Bearcats.

Hirschi Falls in Playoff Debut

The Hirschi Huskies played their first-ever playoff game Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium against Argyle, and came up short in a 5-0 loss.

Still the Huskies acquitted themselves well, playing even with the 23-1-1 Eagles for more than ten minutes before falling behind on a shot that just eluded goalie Luis Garcia.

They trailed 3-0 at the break before allowing two more in the second half for the final tally.
