HS Baseball/Softball: Rider Rolls into Meeting with Old High

The Rider Raiders wound up playing Tuesday night, after all.

After initially announcing that their game at Denton High would be postponed until Wednesday due to wet field conditions, the teams played anyway, and Rider took a 6-0 win.

Ben Smith and Blake Burrus combined on a three-hitter, striking out 16 Bronco batters between them.

The win improves Rider to 18-5 overall on the year, 5-0 in District 4-4A, and extends their winning streak to eleven straight games, going back to their district-opening win at Little Elm March 8th.

The Raiders will meet rival Wichita Falls High School Friday night at 7:30 PM at Hoskins Field.

The Coyotes' home game against Denton Ryan, scheduled for Tuesday, will be made up Wednesday night at 5 PM.

Rider/WFHS Softball Postponed

The rivalry meeting between Rider and Old High on the softball field was also postponed due to Tuesday's rain.

It will be made up Wednesday night at 5:30 PM at Sunrise Optimist Field 2.

Lady Hawks Get Historic Win

The Iowa Park Lady Hawks got a milestone win Tuesday night in Burkburnett.

The Lady Hawks beat the 16th-ranked Lady Bulldogs 3-1 for what coach Randy Ledford believed to be the first win against Burkburnett in school history.

Iowa Park improves to 19-7 overall, 3-0 in District 6-3A, while Burkburnett falls to 2-1 in district action.

The Lady Hawks will host Bowie Friday night, with JV starting at 5 PM and Varsity to follow.

The Lady Bulldogs will host Graham, who is also 2-1, with second place up for grabs.
