Lawmakers Still Hammering Out Texas Budget Issues

The Texas House has approved a supplemental budget intended to help pay the state's bills for the last five months of the current cycle.

Next Thursday the house is set to consider tapping the rainy day fund for the $3.2 billion gap that remains.  The measure makes about $1.5 billion in agency cuts, including those requested last year by state leaders.  Some of the cuts include reductions in a needy families program, along with cuts to universities and community colleges.
