HS Soccer Playoffs: Sectional Round Recap

Reported by: Charlie Bartlett

The road to the state championship continued today for three Texoma teams; the Raider Boys, Girls soccer teams and the WFHS Girls soccer team.

Three teams entered the UIL Sectional round, but only two are moving and for one their seasons over.

The Lady Raider Soccer team couldn't get the offense going against Denton Ryan at Ram Stadium in Mineral Wells. They trailed 2-0 after the half as the Ryan Raiders continued to rack in two more goals in the second half for the 4-0 win.

Bad night for the Lady Raiders, but a good one for the Rider Boys. The state ranked Raiders survived a battle, winning 1-0 in overtime against the Birdville Hawks at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex. Sawyer Horton scored the game-winning goal for a Rider victory.

The Lady Coyotes had the same success as the Rider boys, but they didn't need overtime. WFHS cruised past the Birdville Lady Hawks for a dominating 4-1 win. Peyton Fookes had a goal and two assists, Sierra Anderson put in two goals while Amber Garcia had one.
