HS Soccer Playoffs: WFHS Girls Advance, Rider Boys Fall

And then there was one.

The Wichita Falls High School Lady Coyote Soccer team advanced to the Region I-4A tournament Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Mansfield Summit at Denton's C.H. Collins Athletic Complex.

After a scoreless first half, Taylor Holden's free kick set up Amber Garcia on the doorstep to put Old High up 1-0, then with about five minutes left Payton Fookes set up Sierra Anderson for an insurance goal that made it 2-0.

The Lady Coyotes struck once more in the game's final minute for the final margin of victory.

They advance to the Regional Semifinals, where they will face Canyon High School at noon on Friday in the friendly confines of Memorial Stadium.

Rider's Season Ends in 2-1 Loss

The Rider Raiders were not as fortunate Tuesday night in Mineral Wells, falling 2-1 to the Steers of Fort Worth Northside.

Minsung Park scored the lone goal for Rider, who finishes the season 22-3-2 overall and Sectional Champions.

The Raiders were without forward Mike Dix, who sat out the match due to accumulated yellow cards.
