HS Baseball: Rider Blows Out Ryan

The Rider Raiders entered Tuesday's game on a 14-game winning streak, not having been scored upon since a 3-1 win March 18th at Denton Ryan.

They wasted no time putting Tuesday's rematch with the "other" Raiders out of reach, scoring 10 runs in the first inning and six more in the second en route to a 16-1 win in five innings.

The Raiders hit five home runs in the game, including a grand slam from Mason Stone, who also doubled in a run.

Gage Green was 3/3 with a home run of his own, and Ben Smith tossed five innings of one-hit ball while striking out seven to pick up the win.

The lone Ryan run was unearned, after Smith's throw to second on a fourth-inning grounder went wide of the bag.

Rider improves to 22-5 on the season, and 9-0 in District 4-4A with three district contests remaining. They have Friday off before stepping out of district Saturday to visit Hebron.

Ryan falls to 14-10 overall and 4-4 in district.

Other Scores

Electra visited Wellington in District 7-A action, and the home Skyrockets handed the Tigers a 10-7 loss.

Archer City earned a 12-1 win at Olney to solidify their lead in District 9-A. The Wildcats improve to 9-1 in district, while the Cubs fall to 7-3, two games back.
