Air Traffic Controllers To Get Schedule Change

The nation's air traffic controllers will get an extra hour of rest between shifts.

The FAA announced the new rules Sunday, a day after a controller at a busy regional radar facility in Miami was found sleeping on the job just before 5 AM.

It was the fifth reported incident since late March.  Several other countries, including Germany and Japan, permit controllers to take sleeping breaks and they provide quiet rooms with cots for that purpose.
