President Orders Investigation Into Gas Prices

President Barack Obama wants to find out if criminal activity could be to blame for the nation's high gas prices.

He has ordered the Justice Department to look for any fraud or manipulation in oil markets.  The average price for regular gas now stands at $3.84 per gallon.  That's about 30% higher than a month ago and almost a dollar higher than a year ago.

"We're going to make sure that nobody's taking advantage of American consumers," President Obama said.

If demand keeps up and the U.S. dollar continues to weaken.  Some analysts fear prices could top $6 by the end of the summer.
