HS Softball: Rider defeats WFHS in rivalry game

The Rider Lady Raiders spoiled senior night for Wichita Falls High School with a 13-0 win in five innings.

Two Rider seniors provided the scoring in the second. Morgan Lewis hit a 2-run double, while Sammy Hislop belted a 2-run shot over the left field wall.

The Lady Raiders will play Canyon in a three-game Bi-District Playoff series at Lubbock Monterey with game one at 7 p.m. on Friday. Game two will be Saturday morning at 11 a.m., with game three to follow 30 minutes later if necessary.

Rider finishes the year 25-7 overall and 10-2 in District 4-4A.

Burkburnett Wins District

In Burkburnett, the Lady Bulldogs clinched the district championship with a 4-1 victory over Bowie.

Kaylee Armstrong hit a solo shot in the bottom of the third. The game was called after five innings because of lightning.

Helton No-Hits Vernon

Iowa Park freshman Payton Helton struck out seven batters in seven innings to earn a no-hitter.

The Lady Hawks offense provided more than enough support, as Iowa Park came away with a 4-0 victory.

Iowa Park finished the season 23-9 overall and 8-2 in District 6-3A.

Graham Wins Big

The Graham Lady Blues dominated Hirschi 18-1 in three innings at the other game at the Sunrise Optimist complex.

The Lady Blues have already clinched the third seed in the district and await their playoff opponent.
