Notre Dame's top tennis doubles pairing of Lindsey Underhill and Taylor Love reached the TAPPS State Semifinals before falling Wednesday to the eventual state champions from Boerne Geneva.
Underhill and Love won their quarterfinal match on Tuesday 6-1, 6-0 over a team from Houston's St. Stephen's Episcopal to advance to Wednesday's action.
On Wednesday, Love and Underhill faced Claire Lunsford and Sarah Johnson of Geneva for a spot in the tournament championship.
Lunsford and Johnson took the first set narrowly, 7-5, before Love and Underhill rallied to dominate the second set 6-1 and even the match.
But Lunsford and Johnson regained control in the deciding third set, earning a 6-2 win to take the match and move on to the finals, where they defeated a team from Lubbock Christ the King 6-2, 6-2 for the title.
Love and Underhill were the only team to win a set against the duo from Boerne Geneva.
Girls' Doubles: Mary Brady and Michelle Prosser fell 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 in the round of 16.
Boys' Doubles: Danny Otto and Cobi Niedzwiecki fell 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
Girls Singles: Catherine Ozier fell 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16.
Lindsey Schreiber fell 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16.
