Kids Participate in Shooting Competition

A shooting competition held by the Northwest Texas Field and Stream Association ended with the participation of kids ages 8 to 18.

It's 24 counties wide and gives children the chance to compete in rifle matches.  Some have never even shot before and others are very experienced.  It's an annual tournament aimed at teaching children the importance of safety and working alongside others.

"This really teaches them the aspects of safety and responsibility and looking out for their peers as well as how to manage themselves," said Maranda Revell, Count Extension Agent, 4-H.

Last year the tournament garnered almost 90 participants and 200 plus onlookers, it's expected that number was exceeded on Saturday.  Lots of shiny belt buckles and other awards were given out.
