Defendant In Murder Trial Strikes Okla. Prosecutor

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A man convicted of murder in the death of a teenage robber during an attempted pharmacy heist struck the Oklahoma County District Attorney during the sentencing phase of the trial.

David Prater was delivering a closing statement Monday when Emanuel Mitchell jumped up from the defense table and struck him as he was walking back toward the prosecution table.

Sheriff's deputies tackled Mitchell and removed him the courtroom. Prater had a scratch on the right side of his nose that was bleeding but indicated that he was all right. His eyeglasses were broken.

Family members of Antwun Parker, who was killed in the May 2009 robbery, had to be restrained.

Jurors recommended life with the possibility of parole for Mitchell and Anthony Morrison, who were accused of planning the robbery.
