Armed Robber on the Loose Following Pawn Shop Shootout

Wichita Falls police say a pawn shop owner opened fire on a suspect who walked into his shop with a gun, just before lunch time.

Our crews have been at the 'We Buy Gold Pawn Shop,' next door to the 'Quick and Easy Touchless Automatic Car Wash' on 2300 Kemp Boulevard and Avenue M since 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a masked and armed man demanded money from the owner of the pawn shop in the 2300 block of Kemp Boulevard. Police say the store's owner fired multiple shots. Two shots were fired inside the store. Two more were fired outside. According to police all shots were fired by the pawn shop owner.  The suspect ran down an alley between Kemp and Fillmore.

People who work in the businesses near where it happened on Kemp, saw and heard it all go down.  Farmers Insurance Group Agent John Lee Stoiloff says, "We heard a really loud gunshot, which had to be a shotgun. So we went to the side window, and we heard someone which was the owner yelling call 9-1-1".

Stoiloff says he had his coworker call the cops immediately. He saw the pawn shop owner get into his truck to try and chase down the robber.  The armed man was on foot, but he got away.

No one was hurt. Stoiloff says, "I'm thankful that the owner over here is alright. And everybody is ok. I'm just glad nobody did get hurt in this incidence".  Fortunately the business heard the gunshots and proceeded to call the police.

Our crews on the scene saw officers take a black rifle out of the store that had been tagged by police as evidence. Police confirm the owner's gun was taken as evidence.

Crime Scene Investigators and officers with WFPD packed up and left the scene around 1:15 p.m.

Police have few details on a suspect description. They said he is a heavyset black male. He had a black bandana over his face and was also wearing a gray hoodie.
