Heavy Penalties Possible For Texas Dog Attacks

New legislation could bring stiff penalties to dog owners in Texas.

Under a new bill dog owners could face life in prison if their dog kills an infant or child under the age of 18 or an elderly person over the age of 65.  If the attack results in serious injury, the possible penalty is a third degree felony.

The house approved the bill on a 123-7 vote.  Following a procedural vote, the measure will go to the senate for consideration.
