MSU Softball Will Host Regional Tournament

Midwestern State earned the top seed and will host a regional for the second consecutive season as released by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee Monday morning.
The Mustangs will play host to Angelo State, Emporia State and Texas A&M International in South Central Regional #1, while West Texas A&M welcomes Nebraska-Omaha, Missouri Western and St. Mary's.
The Mustangs open the tournament Friday at noon against Texas A&M International, while Angelo State and Emporia State follow at 2:30 p.m.
The winners of the first round game play at 11 a.m. on Saturday followed by a pair of elimination contests at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
The championship is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday with the if necessary game following at 3:30.
The winners of the four-team, double elimination brackets meet in a best-of-3 Super Regional at the site of the highest remaining seed on May 20 and 21 for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II Championship in Salem, Va.
All-session tournament passes are available for presale at the MSU Athletics Office beginning Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. All-session admissions cost $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. The student rate is available for any student from pre-school to college with valid identification. Senior citizen rate is available for ages 65 and up.

Game 1: Midwestern State (47-10) vs. Texas A&M International (32-27)
Game 2: Angelo State (40-10) vs. Emporia State (41-14)


Game 3: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 11 a.m.
Game 4: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 1:30 p.m.
Game 5: Game 3 loser vs. Game 4 winner, 4 p.m.


Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 1 p.m.
Game 7: Game 6 winner vs. Game 6 loser, 3:30 p.m. (if necessary)
