HS Baseball: Graham Takes Game 1 on the Road

The Graham Steers took Game 1 of their home-and-home series on the road in Bridgeport, beating the Bulls 7-0 to take a 1-0 series lead home for games 2 and 3 Saturday.

Kyle Sheriger started and got the win for the Steers (26-7), the District 6-3A champions.

Graham struck for three runs in the third inning to turn a 1-0 game into a more comfortable 4-0 game and rolled from there.

Game 2 will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Steers Stadium in Graham, with Game 3 to follow 30 minutes later, if necessary.

Class A: Seymour, Olney Win; Windthorst PPD

In Class A action, Seymour and Olney both took Game 1 wins.

The Panthers went up to Childress and beat Follett 6-2 to take a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 will be Friday at 5 p.m. back in Childress, with Game 3 to follow 30 minutes later, if needed.

The Cubs didn't have it quite as easy as their two Bi-District routs of Albany, but they got it done against Goldthwaite, winning 3-2 in nine innings in Granbury.

Game 2 (and 3, if needed) will be way down in Leander, at Rouse High School.

The Windthorst Trojans were rained out for their Game 1 against Bosqueville in Lake Worth. They will play a double-header Friday starting at 5 p.m., and decide on what to do for Game 3 when and if they need one.
