Police Closer To Discovering Identity Of Remains Found

Wichita Falls Police say they have a strong lead on the identity belonging to the skeletal remains found Saturday afternoon near Waurika Highway.

Police are hoping dental records could be used to help determine the identity of the remains.

A passerby exploring the wooded area near a railroad track located a human body.  Detectives from the Crime's Against Persons Unit and a crime scene technician were on scene.

The race, age, gender, and time of death is unknown at this time.  The remains will be sent to the Tarrant County Coroner's office for autopsy.  It is being treated as a homicide, although police do not believe foul play was involved.
