HS Softball: City View Bats Heat Up

In a upset two-game sweep over Brock, the then top-ranked Class 2A in the state, City View made a habit of scoring late and winning in nail-biting fashion.

The 4th-ranked Lady Mustangs kicked off their Best of 3 Regional Semifinal series against 7th-ranked Crawford at Keller Central High School with an 8-0 victory.

After a routine start from starting pitcher Ciara Clampitt, the senior struck out four of the first six Lady Pirates she faced, City View's bats caught fire in the top of the third.

With runners at the corners, senior Skyler Patterson blooped a ball into left field. Junior Taylor Jenkins got a late running start from third, but was just able to beat the throw home, one of two runners that scored on the play.

Clampitt then helped herself out at the plate, driving in a pair of runs on a triple to the left-center gap. Shelby Payne added to the runs, but knocking in Clampitt with an RBI-single to left.

City View led 6-0 after three and never looked back.

The two teams resume the series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.

Windthorst Drops Game 1 to Albany

The Windthorst Trojanettes got off to a good start Thursday night in Graham against Albany, scoring 3 in the first inning, but Albany pitcher Jamie Fuentes shut them down the rest of the way in a 7-3 loss.

The #6 Trojanettes got a solo home run from Logan Pennartz in their three-run first, but allowed five runs in the top of the third, followed by single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to seal their fate.

Game 2 of the series will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m., back in Graham.

Kelsey Hise (15-2) is expected to get the start in Game 2 for the Trojanettes.
