HS Softball: Windthorst Falls in Top-10 Matchup

One play seemed to shift the momentum during Windthorst's Region I-A Semifinal game against No. 4 Albany in Graham.

The No. 6 Trojanettes had a prime scoring chance with the bases loaded and one out in top of the fifth of a 3-3 game. Logan Pennartz hit a ball hard down the line to third. Lexi Koetter headed home, but was thrown out, then the Lady Lions got an out at third for a double play to end the inning.

Albany's bats heated up in the bottom half, as the Lady Lions went on to score three runs in the bottom half and nine more overall to take a 12-3 lead.

Windthorst rallied to score five in the top of the seventh, but fall in the end 12-8.

Albany wins the Best of 3 Series in two games and will play Petrolia in the Regional Finals.

Petrolia dominates Haskell to advance

In Jacksboro, Petrolia let the bats fly with a 13-1 win over Haskell. The Lady Pirates scored three in the first, two in the second and third, five in the fourth and one in the fifth in the mercy-shortened victory.

Petrolia wins the Best of 3 Series in two games.

Back-and-forth for City View

No. 4 City View thumped No. 7 Crawford 8-0 to open their Region II-2A Best of 3 Semifinal Thursday. Bad weather postponed game two until today, and Crawford took advantage early.

The Lady Pirates gave Ciara Clampitt her first loss of the season in a 5-3 game two loss for City View.

But after a long delay, City View bounced right back take game three 9-3. Lacey Taylor had a two-run home run.

City Views advances to play Callisburg in the Regional Finals.
