Negotiators approve $172.5B Texas budget

The new Texas budget could provide $37 billion for basic school operations.

The approved $172.5 billion budget passed the State House and Senate Thursday.

Lawmakers have struggled with the budget since January.

The new budget allows for $15 billion in cuts, when compared to our current spending.

Lawmakers have sent a measure to Texas Governor Rick Perry for approval.

Requesting $3.19 billion dollars from the Rainy Day Fund to help close a deficit in the current state budget.
