Texas Looks to Watch Alamo's Stewards Closely

The Texas legislature passed a bill that will create more oversight for the group that oversees the Alamo in San Antonio.

The measure, which passed Sunday, keeps the embattled Daughters of the Republic of Texas as stewards of the historic landmark, but the General Land Office will be watching them closely.  Lawmakers took a renewed interest in the Daughters after the nonprofit came under fire for allegations of poor financial planning and mismanagement of the Alamo.

The Texas Attorney General's office is also investigating the group.
