Blacksox Open Festival with Double-Header Sweep

The Burkburnett Blacksox opened up their first home tournament of the year, the Blacksox Festival, with a pair of wins over Oklahoma Angels squads.

First, the Blacksox 15U team defeated the Angels' 16U team 9-1 behind a solid pitching effort from Cody Adams, who pitched all 5 innings of the game, allowing three hits.

The Blacksox pounded out 11 hits without committing an error, while the Angels committed three.

In the second game, the Blacksox 17U-Black team defeated the Angels' 17U team by an identical 9-1 score.

Wichita Falls High School's Griffin Russell got the win for the Blacksox, who scored eight runs in the first inning.

Play continues all day Saturday and into Sunday at Burkburnett High School's Henderson Field as well as at Hayes Field.
