The Blacksox Festival continued with a variety of action in day two of the weekend tournament.
The 18U team topped the Oklahoma Angels 18U team at Henderson Field at Burkburnett High School to start the day.
The Angels took the lead early, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first innings. Burkburnett High's Marcus Jones settled in on the hill after that. He struck out four batters and picked off another in the top of the fourth and fifth innings.
In the bottom half of the fifth, the offensive momentum shifted over to Burkburnett, with a little help from Oklahoma's pitchers. A pair of wild pitches allowed two runs to score, while Collin Pope drove in one. The Blacksox ended the inning with a 3-2 lead.
The Angels tied it back up and were looking to win it in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly. But, Hirschi High's Joe Barron fired it from right field to Danny Miller, who relayed it to catcher Chris Sutton. He made a great tag at the plate to keep it tied.
The Blacksox loaded the bases quickly in the bottom of the eighth, then Gage Pittman drove in Miller to give the Blacksox the 4-3 win.
In the second game at Henderson Field, the 16U team erupted for six runs against the Angels 16U team in the bottom of first, on the way to a 13-5 victory.
