Rider to Leave for State Wednesday

The Rider Raiders will head down to Round Rock on Wednesday, leaving at 9:00 a.m. from the Rider HS baseball field.

There will be a sendoff for the team starting around 8:30 a.m. at the same location.

The team had their final practice at Hoskins Field Tuesday afternoon, and when we talked to the players they were confident that their 2010 experience against Brenham would serve them well in a rematch with the #1-ranked Cubs this year.

Rider returns 8 of 10 players who started that game, while Brenham returns 4 of 10 starters.

Each team has three players who are committed to play baseball at NCAA Division-I schools.

Head Coach Scot Green also pointed out that while many of Brenham's starters from last year are gone, the Cubs are one of the state's premier programs, making their state-record 16th trip to State and third in a row.
