UPDATE: Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin Discuss Goal At Town Hall

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin spoke at a town hall meeting at Fort Sill in Lawton Wednesday afternoon.

Fallin said her long term goal is to do away with the state income tax and alter Oklahoma's tax structure to pay for essential government services.

The governor said she has no specific proposal to further reduce the income tax. The state's top tax rate is scheduled to drop from 5.5 percent to 5.25 percent on January 1.

Fallin said eliminating the state income tax is not something that can be done next year or the year after. She said a committee is studying possible changes in tax policy.

Fallin said she wants to find the best way to fund essential services and make the state more attractive and friendlier to business.
