Nocona's 59th Annual Chisholm Trail Rodeo Underway

Nocona kicked off its 59th annual Chisholm Trail Rodeo Friday evening.

The rodeo events include Mutton' bustin', bare back riding, saddle bronc, open ranch bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, break away roping, barrel racing, junior barrel racing, and last, but certainly not least, the bull riding event.

Newschannel 6 spoke with one of the organizers of the event, who shared the importance of getting people out to the rodeo.

Chair member Wes Morton said "to get anybody to come see us in Nocona is pretty important. We're pretty proud of our little town. A lot of people in town have worked real hard to get it ready and we'd like to have you come to Nocona, come see our new museum when you get a chance."

Tickets are $8 at the gate. If you bring kids under the age of 5, they're free. The rodeo lasts through Saturday. A parade for the event will begin around 5 PM Saturday evening.
