New Trail Underway at Lucy Park

A new trail aimed at helping children succeed in the classroom is underway at Lucy Park.  Construction of the Born Learning Trail began at 7:30 Saturday morning.  Once it's completed it will be a trail that offers learning games to build pre-literacy skills.  Signs will be placed in various locations that will say things like 'talk, listen, sing,' of course that encourages children to build their language skills.  Other signs like 'jump, clap, skip and move' will encourage physical activity.

"It's going to bring the families an opportunity to actually come to the park and walk the trail and do the activities.  There are nine separate activities and they are literacy based," said Trish Dillmon of United Way.  The North Texas United Way is coordinating the project along with the help of the Senior Junior Forum who will provide the signs and Lowes Home Improvement pitched in with construction materials.
