Kids Fishing Rodeo Brings Children to Field & Steam Pond

It was an exciting Saturday morning at the Field & Stream Pond as the Kids Fishing Rodeo took center stage.

This annual event had been canceled in years past due to mother nature drying up the fishing holes, but it was back again this year.  Organizers supplied children with the fishing gear and prizes were given for the biggest and smallest fish.  Next year organizers hope more kids come out and enjoy a day of fishing.

"At one time there was as many as 800 kids out here.  That's probably before soccer and iPads and all that but we hope to get it going again and keep it going every year and make it bigger every year," said Ken Hastings with the Kids Fishing Rodeo.  The pond was stocked with Catfish, Perch and Trout and Academy donated the fishing poles for the children to use.  The event is sponsored by the Northwest Texas Field and Stream Association.
