Bowie Schools Upping School Lunch Prices

The Bowie School of Trustees met for their first summer session at 5:30PM today. Items on the agenda included cafeteria prices for the year. The plan is for the school lunch price to increase from $2.40 to $2.50. This price change will count for the 2011-2012 school year. Superintendent Steven Monkres said price increases are mandated by the state this year. Also on the Trustees agenda is the Principal Kelly Shackelford's proposal for a closed campus. The proposal hopes to increase the amount of instructional time during the day. Monkres has said that the plan would include incentives to students to earn off-campus privileges on special occasions if they meet grades, attendance, and discipline requirements.

The 2011-2012 Montague County Tax Appraisal District was also be reviewed. Superintendent Monkres updated the board on school finance and district summer projects.

In an executive session, personnel resignations and new hires will be discussed. Monkres says Gail Evans has chosen to go back to the classroom and teach high school math, and by doing so her current position of PEIMS coordinator is going to open up.
