Texas Redistricting Map Approved

A new congressional voting map has been approved by the Texas senate.

It's now heading to Governor Rick Perry's desk for approval.  The map was drawn to reflect population changes over the last 10 years.

The map also has a goal of protecting the GOP's majority in the Texas delegation in Washington.  Democrats complain the map violates the Federal Voting Rights Act by splitting Latino and black communities and diluting their voting power.  The map was approved without debate.
