Around 200 acres have been burned in Archer County. Smoke was seen billowing up and drifted for miles. Crews believe a large amount of green fuel produced the bulk of smoke. "We have a little bit of green fuels out there so its producing a lot of smoke," said Bowman VFD Captain John Strenski.
Strenski said the heat made conditions difficult for the fire fight. "It was hot. It was a very smokey fire." Crews also had a tough time fighting the blaze due to rough terrain.
Crews from Bowman, Scotland, Windthorst, Holliday, Arrowhead Ranch Estates and Lakeside City fought the blaze. Strenski said the mutual aid effort helped tremendously. "Especially during the middle of a work day where everybody had to leave their jobs," he said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
