Smoke in the air on Sunday slowed down traffic on I-44 as fire fighters rushed to put out a grass fire in Wichita Falls.
Flames broke out around 1:45 in the afternoon.
Quick action by the Wichita Falls Fire Department kept the fire from spreading.
Flames were contained to the grass between the access road and the highway just in front of the Wal Mart on Central Expressway.
It took fire fighters about 15 minutes to knock down those flames.
While it was not a big fire, it served as a reminder that even the smallest of sparks or a single cigarette can ignite the dry grass which could turn into a large out of control fire, if quick action is not taken.
