After getting his second tough-luck no-decision in three major league starts, Holliday High School graduate Zach Stewart was sent back to the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats this week by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Stewart allowed nine earned runs in 16 2/3 innings, with more than half of those runs coming against Atlanta in his second start, a 5-1 loss.
If you throw out the start against Atlanta, Stewart had a 2.77 ERA in his other two starts. He allowed two runs in seven innings in his Major-League debut against Baltimore, then two runs in six innings in his most recent start, Monday night at Detroit.
In each of those two starts, he pitched well enough to win and left with the game tied, only to see the Toronto bullpen lose the game.
