Vigil Planned For Missing Teen

The family of a missing Texoma teen is asking for your thoughts and prayers. Monday marks 1 year since Krishonda "Shonda" Townsend went missing. She was returning home late in the evening and vanished. Her car was found in Mineral Wells. The family is holding a prayer vigil to keep her story alive.

Carolyn Rittenbury, Shonda's mother, says faith has kept her going this past year. "I still have faith, hope... That's all I live on every day… Its helped a lot just walking with the Lord. I've walked with the Lord for years and He's my strength," she said.

She hopes the community will gather with her to pray for Shonda's homecoming. "That God maybe will bring her back home," she said.

A large billboard has been erected north of Mineral Wells on US 281. It will be the site of the vigil. The divine strength drawn from faith is needed every time Rittenbury drives Shonda's young son past the sign. "He misses his mom, still every time we pass by this sign he says 'My mommy, my mommy why don't she come home'," she said.

The vigil is set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
