Good Weekend for Blacksox

The Blacksox 18U team had been playing up-and-down baseball throughout most of the summer season. Today could be the first step to a strong finish to the rest of the season.

The Blacksox won the South Plains Classic in Oklahoma City by defeating Woodward 14-9 in the championship game.

The team advanced to the finals by beating San Antonio 10-4 earlier in the day.

This weekend also marked the return of Cameron Allen, MVP of Rider's state championship run, to the team that won the 17U World Series last season.

The Blacksox 17U and 16U teams were rained out of the final day of action at the Rice Invitational in Houston. Both teams were undefeated entering semifinal action today.

The 18U team now heads to the Lawton Coloniels Invitational, while the 17U team travels to the Las Vegas Invitational. Both tournaments take place from Thursday July 7th to Sunday July 10th.

Critics say the NFL's decision to force players to stand during the national anthem if on the field say the policy prioritizes the league's mainstream appeal over athletes.
