Disaster Declaration Could Be Extended

The Disaster Declaration in Wichita County could be extended.

Wichita County Commissioners met this morning. They voted to extend the measure through September 30th.

The Disaster Declaration specifically bans the use or sale of fireworks in Wichita County. Commissioners said the extension would only cover unincorporated areas of Wichita County. They said individual cities would need to put their own bans in place.

The measure isn't set in stone yet. Judge Woody Gossum sent a letter to Texas Governor Rick Perry today asking him to approve the request.
