Alzheimer's Patient Leads Police On Pursuit

Iowa Park police were able to stop a Wichita Falls man from causing harm not only to himself, but also from anyone else.

An Alzheimer's patient wandered from his home overnight, found a truck unlocked with keys inside, and drove off.

A police officer saw the man run a stop sign at Victoria and Business 287. The officer attempted to stop him, but couldn't.

Police say the man eventually began driving north bound in the south bound lanes of U.S. 287 toward Electra. Officers say the man was going about 40-45 miles per hour.

DPS and Wichita County Deputies began to assist with the pursuit. Officers deployed spike strips and successfully flattened 3 tires. An officer then performed a maneuver with his vehicle to force the truck from the highway.

No one was injured and the man was returned to family members.
