Atheists Offended By Street Sign Honoring 9/11 Firefighters

New York atheists are demanding a street sign that honors fallen firefighters who responded to the 9/11 attack be taken down.

They are offended by the 'H' word being placed on the sign, the word "Heaven", and they are planning a lawsuit. The groups president, Ken Bronstein, is leading the charge.

The sign was erected in memory of seven fallen firefighters assigned to Ladder Co. 101/Engine Co. 202. The street was formally named Richards St. in Red Hook, but the change was approved by the City Council.

Officials says those who oppose the sign had plenty of time during the public process to attest the sign being put up.
