Fire Rages In Palo Pinto County

A wild fire is scorching hundreds of acres in Palo Pinto County.

Officials said the blaze started on July 4th just north of Mineral Wells. They said so far it has burned nearly 1,000 acres. Homes have been threatened, but none have been damaged or destroyed.

Dozens of crews are using everything they have to get the fire under control. The latest reports showed fire fighters had the blaze at about 30% containment.

Officials believe lightning started the fire, but the official cause has not been determined.
