Rider's Allen Named 4A Player of the Year

Rider High School's Cameron Allen was named the Class 4A Baseball Player of the Year Friday by the Texas Sports Writers' Association.

The Rider graduate, headed to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in the fall and currently playing for the Burkburnett Blacksox, was also named to the Class 4A First Team as a pitcher and an honorable mention at shortstop.

He was joined by several of his Rider teammates on the list.

Raiders catcher Gage Green, headed to Oklahoma State in the fall, was the First Team catcher, while his father, Head Coach Scot Green, was named Coach of the Year.

Ben Smith was named Second Team All-State as a pitcher, while also gathering an honorable mention as a first baseman.
