Progress Going Along Smoothly for Vernon's Main Street Program

Vernon's Main Street Program is going along well according to city leaders.  So far 133 new ADA handicapped ramps have been placed throughout the city; along with nearly 450 linear feet of new curb and gutter; and almost 300 linear feet of new sidewalk.

"People sometimes think of handicap accessibility issues as somebody else's issues, but every community has people who need that help.  We really appreciated that TXDOT still has the resources in order to make these types of important community improvements," said Dan Kelleher, the City of Vernon Main Street Director.

One of the benefits of being a main street city is that local main street program managers can attend free training workshops organized by the Texas Main Street Program staff.
