Transformer Lines May Be To Blame For Large Grass Fire Near Bellevue

Fire crews in Clay County are reviewing any possible causes to this weekend's blaze in Bellevue.

Officials say the flames just north of the city on U.S. 287 could have been caused by transformer lines.

Reports also indicate about 500-800 acres were charred, although, officials plan to use a GPS look for complete acreage totals.

At one point, 15 homes were in danger from the flames, which have been snuffed out since last night.

Fire crews from Henrietta, Bellevue, Joy, Vashti, Montague, Bowie, Nocona and Ringgold all worked in Sunday afternoon in triple digit heat to get the flames under control.
