Quanah Now Issuing Mandatory Water Restrictions

Quanah has issued mandatory water restrictions.

Current levels at Greenbelt Lake warranted officials to place its customers under mandatory water rationing. The city of Quanah has been asked to reduce its demand on the Greenbelt system by 30%.

Residents are being asked to practice water conservation and minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.

Residents whose homes are East of Shaw Street should water on Monday and Wednesday. Those who have homes West of Shaw Street should water on Tuesday and Thursday.

All outdoor watering by hose-end sprinklers, soaker hoses, or drip irrigation may occur only between the hours of Midnight and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to Midnight.

Officials say if Greenbelt Lake doesn't receive some rain, stricter restrictions may be necessary. Water restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
