Disappointing Week Ends for Blacksox

The Burkburnett Blacksox entered this week with high hopes, and three teams playing for State Championships.

The week ended with all three eliminated, and none even picking up a win.

The Blacksox 18U played in the Connie Mack tournament in Dallas, losing 2-1 Wednesday to the Dallas Stars, then fell 6-2 to the DBAT Mustangs-Chapman, ending their tournament.

The 16U team was in the Mickey Mantle tournament at Al Alford Field in McKinney starting Thursday, falling 7-5 to the host McKinney Mavericks, then were eliminated Friday by the East Texas Heat, 10-3.

The 15U team competed at the Ken Griffey, Jr. state tournament at McKinney North HS, losing their first game Thursday to the DBAT Mustangs-Phillips, then in the elimination game they lost to a different DBAT team, Brady, 10-1 to end their run.

    A six-run seventh inning lifted No. 12 West Texas A&M to a series sweep of Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Schaeffer Park with the Lady Buffs scoring the winning run on a throwing error in the infield to rally from a five-run deficit in the final frame for a 9-8 victory.
