Taxi Driver Wanted in Shooting Near Irving Mall

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Police are searching for a taxi driver who's suspected of gunning down two men in a store parking lot near a suburban Dallas mall.

Irving police say there did not appear to be any criminal activity before the Sunday afternoon attack in a parking lot across the street from Irving Mall.

Police on Monday identified the victims as 35-year-old Mehboob Pirani of Euless and 35-year-old Rahim Merchant of Missouri City.

Pirani died at a Dallas hospital, while Merchant was dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a yellow or gold cab opened fire, then he fled. Police have not released his name or any possible motive.
