Possible Health Scam In Wichita County

A Possible health scam is targeting Texoma residents.

The Wichita Falls Wichita County Health District has received several calls from area restaurant representatives concerned about unusual phone calls they've received from people claiming to be with the Health Department.

The caller claims that they are a Health Inspector and will be out the next day for an inspection. City Health Inspectors do not call to set up appointments.

The caller has also asked that someone from the establishment call a phone number and use a code they provide to access information. This ploy has been used in phone scams to attempt to place a charge on a business or residential phone bill.

Anyone asked to call a number and use a code is advised not to do so.

Health Department Inspectors always identify themselves and carry Health Department identification with them at all times.

If a business representative has any questions related to a phone call or visit from someone claiming to be with Health Inspections Division please contact the Health Department at 761-7800.
